A playful counterpoint to Barolo and Barbaresco, Pelavarga is fermented and aged completely in stainless steel, allowing the bright red fruits and floral notes to shine. The word “Basadone” on the label has dual meaning; it’d dialect for poppies (hence the illustration) but also little kiss, as the Pelaverga grape was once thought to be an aphrodisiac.
